AJANTA ELLORA CAVES...
Ajanta caves...
The Ajanta and Ellora caves are two great works of art of ancient India. If we travel to Ajanta near Aurangabad in Maharashtra, we can see Ajanta caves. Distance Between Ajanta caves and Aurangabad is near about 102 kilometres.The Buddhists build the caves almost 2000 years ago.
There are two types of caves in Ajanta. The Chaityas and the Viharas. Viharas were the monasteries where the Buddhist monks used to live.
The monks were curved the rock and decorated it with large wall paintings. This paintings at Ajanta are called frecos. They tell us the stories of lord Buddha.
ELLORA CAVES...
About 100 kilometres away from the Ajanta caves are Ellora caves. There are three groups of caves in Ellora - of Brahmanism, Jainism and Buddhism beautiful scalptures decorated the temple wall.
The jain caves show verious jain saints called Tirthankaras. Some of the paintings and sculptures of this caves were damaged. These were restored by Archaeological survey of India.
Many peoples from india and also many peoples from foreign are came to visit and to see the beauty of Ajanta and Ellora caves.
