SUN TEMPLE The word Konarka - Kona means corner and arka means Sun god. Sun god is also known by following names - Arka, Bhanu, Udaya, Surya, Aditya, Bhaskara, Heramba, Sapthasapthi, Mithra are all names of sun.   Konark temple is located in the village of Konarka, adjacent to the bay of Bengal at a distance of 35 kilometres north of the entire city.
